Ashley as Bella?  Quoting Socialite Life:

Twilight and New Moon star, Ashley Greene just shot her first magazine cover for Saturday Night Magazine. The actress reveals in an interview that she originally auditioned for the role of Bella, but was told she wasn’t right for the part.

However, lucky for her, producers cast her as Alice Cullen instead, and the rest is, well, history. As for her co-star, Robert Pattinson, and his meteoric rise to fame, Greene exclaims, “It’s sad for Rob!”

She explains that the amount of fans who approach her remains manageable, “But he got slapped with 25,000 screaming girls so I definitely think he’s taking it in stride.”

Ashley says that although she knows eager Twifans mean well, “but people just don’t realize that when they’re that many people coming with a force, it can be very dangerous sometimes.”

Im sure Ashley would have been good as Bella, but somehow she seems too grown up for that role (for my taste). I just love her as Alice and she is just so BEAUTIFUL. love those pics!

Ashley is pretty but I think that she’s too grown up for the role. She is great as Alice. I think that for the most part the casting is right on target. I think that Kristen makes a great Bella.

I don’t think that I would have liked her as Bella as much.
