USAToday Summit Entertainment is rolling out promotional cards for the movie Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Good thing it’s not the 1930s anymore. Otherwise, people might be coming with pitchforks and torches to meet Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), the vampire love interest of Bella in Twilight: Breaking Dawn. The heroic werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) is not a big fan of vampires — especially Edward, who has won the heart of Jacob’s longtime crush, Bella.

While there was no Twilight movie panel this year at Comic Con, finding Twilight inspired merchandise was not a problem. Summit also had Dakota  Fanning’s costume displayed at their booth. It was an amazing event and I can’t wait for next year!

Comic-Con 2010 Panel: Twilight Fan Fic Authors / Steven Lloyd Wilson

Here is a great article on a the Twilight FanFiction panel and I would like to add that he was very nice and respectful. Thank you for this.

The panel is buried next door to the convention center, in the basement of the Mariott. It’s a small room, seating maybe a hundred or so people at the most, the smallest one of I’ve been in at the convention other than the bathrooms. There are a handful of other events bumped to the Mariott, but there’s a palpable feeling that this particular panel is over here to limit the rubbernecking drop ins and give these particular fans some peace. Prisco and I loiter outside, it’s the first event of the day so the doors aren’t open yet.

It’s apparent that most people here already know each other, although they’re from all parts of the world. They do the internet handle tango, approaching each other, glancing at the meaningless name tags, and then pronouncing semi-random words and digits that signify their identity. The excited exclamations follow, shaking hands and hugging friends never before met. True names have power, it’s funny how just as some myths are disappearing, we build new worlds that incorporate their rules. An organizational sort starts passing around a sharpie so that everyone can write the handles on their name tag.

The convention gives out giant tote bags when you get your ticket, for stuffing freebies and bootie in. There are a few rotating around, WB, CBS. A few companies pass out their own at their booths, and there’s a neat one floating around from BBC America promoting Doctor Who, with that picture of Karen Gillan and Matt Smith floating in space outside the TARDIS. A few of the fans here are checking each other’s out and one woman exclaims “if anyone sees the Doctor Who one, please get it for me!” Not so strange after all, eh?

The doors finally open to admit us, and as the crowd squeezes between the doors, scarred from thousands of these sorts of crowds pushing in and out, one woman admires another’s “V for Vendetta” tattoo. It’s a representation of V’s iconic mask, filling all the space between her shoulder blades, the motto emblazoned beneath: “Vi Veri Viversum Vivus Vici.” Not so different.

The seats fill up quickly, until there’s only standing room in the back. There might be eight men in the entire room: Prisco and I, four guys in the back giggling and exuding a mocking voyeurism which was exactly the reason for burying this over in another building. There a sprinkling of other men scattered throughout, each making a point to have his arm around the woman he’s with.

One of the fans excuses herself to get around Prisco and me, and says “you guys are brave, there’s a lot of estrogen in this room.”

“We’ve got a lot too,” I say.

‘Twilight’ won’t be at Comic-Con, so what will we be complaining about this year?

eclipse twilight 320 Twilight wont be at Comic Con, so what will we be complaining about this year?

Every year at the San Diego Comics Convention, you always hear the same gripe: “Isn’t this supposed to be about comic books?” From this perspective, Hollywood has turned what used to be a fanboy Mecca into a marketing platform for decidedly non-comic properties. (This isn’t exactly fair: as EW’s Lynette Rice noted a few weeks ago, an earlier Comic-Con featured a screening of Orson Welles’ Othello.) Angry die-hard comics fans have something to be happy about today, though: Summit Entertainment has just released their Comic-Con schedule, and in a surprising move, the Twilight franchise will not be making an appearance on the panels.

Which means: no more tweeny-boppers wandering around in glittery-white makeup wearing T-shirts that say “Team Jasper” or “Team Riley” or whatever. What’s a hater to do? Not to worry, PopWatchers, at Comic-Con there’s always something to complain about. We’ve analyzed the field and come up with the five things that will be annoying you at this year’s Comic-Con; take a poll after the jump.

‘New Moon’ Cast Surprises Fans In A Comic-Con Appearance

Categories: Comic Con, MTV, new moon cast

MTV has a video clip of the ‘New Moon’ cast as they surprised fans at a special screening of ‘Twilight’ in San Diego during Comic-Con. I love the part with the little boy in the Burger King hat. Sooooooo cute!

This is kind of amazing. Here’s a video clip of San Diego Comic-Con “Twilight” madness. For those who hadn’t heard, there were some special screenings of “Twilight” in San Diego during the show. Kellan Lutz, Peter Facinelli and Taylor Lautner all showed up to surprise the crowd at one of those screenings and the results are… well, they’re pretty astonishing. I love the cute bit at the end with the little kid named Jacob in a “Twi”-branded BK hat.

Do any of you ever wonder if the “Twilight” cast members wear earplugs for their public appearances? You Twilighters do worshipful shrieking better than any fanbase I’ve ever encountered. And I’ve seen Phish. Big ups for that.
