Creation Entertainment has not only announced that the Twilight Convention in Los Angeles will take place November 4-6, but also that Rob, Kristen, Taylor, and all of the Cullens except for Kellan will be there! Unfortunately, Kellan will not be attending due to filming, but BooBoo Stewart (Seth) and Julia Jones (Leah) will be there as well. Plus, there are more guests to be announced!

Indie rock band 100 Monkeys have been doubling-over fans the past few years with their unique funky sensibility and incessant comic creativity — the band writes and performs a new song on the spot at every show based on an audience member’s idea. They’re versatile and talented musicians with a common quick-witted sense of humor, and they’re clearly in a world of their own. Next week, the band will release a new album, Liquid Zoo. As they gear up for release festivities, members Jerad Anderson (J-Rad), Jackson Rathbone (J-Action), Ben Graupner (Ben G), Ben Johnson (Ben J), and M. Lawrence Abrams (Uncle Larry) were kind enough to answer a few questions for us:

How does Liquid Zoo differ from your previous albums?
J-Rad: There is a tad of extra special sauce—awesome sauce if you will—sprinkled into the music.
J-Action: It’s rebellious, new, exciting, and the best thing about us. It’s going to outlive us, and we’re extremely proud to introduce it to the world.
Ben J: We consider Liquid Zoo to be a leap forward for us as a band. We tracked the rhythm parts live as a band. Instead of spending time on overdubs, we were able to focus on getting the vocals we wanted and putting finishing touches on every track.

Comedy is an important part of your music — who are some of your favorite comedians?
Uncle Larry: Groucho Marx.
J-Rad: The old stuff; Richard Pryor.
J-Action: My dad is an extremely witty guy who can keep a room alive. He’s a big influence, as well as all the comedians my dad doesn’t like because of their use of profanity — George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, etc.
Ben J: I guess when I was growing up in the ’90s — Bill Murray always got me good. These days I love watching Will Ferrell.
Ben G: I guess Henry Fonda would be the fondest.

I’ve heard that acting and improv are a big part of your personal lives as well as your live show. Besides Twilight, what are you currently involved in on the side?
J-Action: Beer, BBQ, cheap whiskey, a new record label, good whiskey, new singles and old b-sides, expensive whiskey that other people pay for…and an upcoming world tour.
J-Rad: We are starting a record label, we produce our own movies, and we continually write new music.

What’s one of your favorite recent musical-improv moments?
Ben G: Playing the “Cocaine Blues” in an upscale hotel lobby with the Kissing Club. That put a grin on my face.
J-Rad: I liked when an idea was written on a pillow that literally hit me in the face on stage. It was called “Pillow Talk.”
Uncle Larry: Our recent improv song called “Jello.”
J-Action: “No Bueno” was the improv song in Mission, Texas at Smokin’ Aces, and that was a recent favorite because it stretched my improv lyrical ability to sing in both English and my limited Spanish… plus the groove felt good!

J-Rad: “Eruption” (Van Halen)
Uncle Larry: “Iron Man” (Black Sabbath)

J-Action: It’s a tie between Yoko Ono‘s Yes, I’m a Witch and Paul McCartney & Wings‘ Red Rose Speedway. Two things collectively broke up The Beatles: John and Paul’s ego. Should we just blame ego or was it Yoko? Either way, Wings sucked just as much as Yoko.
Ben G: My mom’s photo album of embarrassing childhood photographs. Seriously though, we should get rid of generic Christmas music. Shopping centers are tough enough as it is.
Ben J: Cher‘s Believe. It was the beginning of Auto-Tuned vocals, something I’ve never been able to get down with.
Uncle Larry: Any album that advocates hate.

100 Monkeys are escaping from the Zoo…the Liquid Zoo on June 28th.

Coinciding with the “Liquid Zoo” album release, 100 Monkeys kicks off a 40+ city US tour in conjunction with House of Blues Entertainment. The tour opens in in Cincinnati on June 28 and will also include dates in Dallas, Anaheim, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco and other major cities. The band which has also been selected as one of LG’s “One’s to watch” this summer are more than excited about the upcoming tour and album. They promise the biggest and best tour yet and of course the usual surprises along the way that only 100 Monkeys can deliver. The band logged a quick eight day tour over the winter holiday playing to sold out venues in several cities across the southern U.S. and they are more than eager to get back to what they love…playing for their fans.

So, there’ve only been a few meaty updates today, and that warrants a quick wrap-up of Twilight news to get you up to date and back to your day.

First things first. Yesterday, there was a bit of heat over a potential Brazil premiere for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. The rumor was: the premiere for the film will take place in Rio de Janiero. As you know, parts of Breaking Dawn were filmed in different portions of Brazil (the honeymoon, namely), including the location chosen for Isle Esme. However, the reports were premature. That’s not saying a Brazil premiere is off the table, of course. For The Twilight Saga: New Moon, both Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner appeared in Brazil to promote the film, and the entire cast has been known to skip around the globe for various events (Berlin, Stockholm, Seoul, Paris, Sydney, and more- those are just off the top of my head). For The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and others, there was an official London premiere for the film. Also Madrid. Point is, international events are common with this series, and given the particular importance of Brazil to Breaking Dawn – Part 1, it is reasonable to foresee one of these events taking place there. It has just not been confirmed yet, and it probably won’t be the big “world premiere” since that usually takes place in Los Angeles, California.

Moving along but sticking with the international theme – TIME Magazine has listed Robert Pattinson as one of the U.S.’s “Top British Invasions,” alongside The Beatles, Harry Potter, and a few others. Considering all of the British talent that has made its way to Hollywood, that’s quite a compliment.

On with Breaking Dawn, NessieMackenzie.com, a fansite devoted exclusively to “Renesmee,” Mackenzie Foy, and Breaking Dawn info, has been tracking the situation as to which other actresses will be asked to aide in the “Renesmee Situation” we discussed before. The names they’ve come across are Eliza Faria and Rachel St. Gelais. Read all about it here.

Meanwhile, on the wolfy side of things, QuileuteWolfPack.com has an interview with Mariel Belanger, the actress who portrayed “The Third Wife” in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. One of the portions I found interesting was the discussion of Kristen Stewart’s portrayal of the same character (discussed during the commentary she did with Robert Pattinson on the Eclipse DVD), which did not make the cut for the film.

I got to watch Kristen Stewart as she mimicked my performance for the morphing into Third Wife part. She was nice, introduced herself to me.

Yes, that was a purposeful segue to more on David Slade. He’s confirmed himself to be helming an episode of Breaking Bad from AMC – the third episode, in fact, and he’s set to begin working on it within the coming few weeks.

And speaking of Twilight-related TV, Jackson Rathbone and his 100 Monkeys (his band) are going to be on Friday’s episode of The Seven at MTV, starting at 5:00 p.m. EST. A preview clip from that episode, as well as a video from the last appearance the band made on the show, can be found in the sidebar.

Finally, a new segment of Peter Facinelli’s on-carpet interview (from his time at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this week) with MTV has been revealed, and in it, Facinelli explained that the final scene from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 has already been filmed, and the reality of the moment was a bit “melancholy” for him and his co-stars. UPDATE: Regarding that last bit, it’s a little confusing . . . the final (ending) scene from the movie has been shot, but production on other sequences from the films is still on-going. In other words, they’ve shot the ending somewhere in the middle and that bit has been done, but filming is far from over. Apologies for the confusion.

Singer/actor Jackson Rathbone is hoping for a musical start to 2011 by setting up his own record label.

The star rose to fame as a vampire in the hit Twilight movie franchise, but spends his time off moonlighting as a member of 100 Monkeys, a band he formed with four of his pals.

Rathbone reveals he’s planning a string of shows with the group next year.  He also aims to launch his own music company.

He tells Zooey magazine, “I’ll be working with my band 100 Monkeys and playing shows around the south as well as setting up other productions for the future of my new company PatchMo Entertainment. Also, I’m setting up a record label.”

So if there are others out there like me that failed at remember Jackson was one “No Ordinary Family” last night I have get a treat for you! BSC did a recap of the episode that I am putting up. It contains spoilers so know that before you click the “read more” button. For those of you that saw it: How do you think Jackson did?

Has it been two weeks? It feels like I was just here, recapping the cute twists and turns of the superheroic Powells, and complaining loudly.  What was in store for us this after such a break?  Would there be any repercussions from last week’s encounter with another superpowered being?  A dash of mythology, perhaps?

No and no.  “Visitors” took places almost solely within the confines of the Powell’s house as they found their home unexpectedly invaded by Stephanie’s parents, Barbara (Cybill Shepherd) and Allen (Bruce McGill).  Surprise! We’re staying for a few days, kids!  Naturally, this puts the Powells in a very awkward position since they’ve been, um, “enhanced” since their last family reunion.

My DVR cut off the very beginning, so I’m not sure what was said between Jim and Stephanie that caused him to slice through the entire kitchen counter. I actually thought it was “My parents are coming to stay!”, but that was quickly disproved. Fill me in, readers?

Barbara and Allen continued the grand Family tradition of everyone not named Powell (with the exception of the sidekicks George and Katie) being reprehensible human beings.  Stephanie’s parents casually insulted every member of the family. If the Powells had a dog or a goldfish, I’m sure Barbara or Allen would have found a way to call it fat, stupid, or lazy. It was awful and unbelievable.   How can everyone the Powells know be so cartoonishly hideous? It’s impossible.

By contrast, the family being robbed and beaten seemed to be having a swell time. Apparently, the Powell’s neighborhood is suffering the same crime rate as the rest of the city, and home invasions are on the rise.  This gave way to a pretty terrifying sequence where masked robbers broke into the home of guest star Jackson Rathbone. While he’s upstairs playing video games, his dad is beaten senseless (though not before throwing hot water on one robber’s face) and his mom is tied up.  The oblivious Rathbone is nearly shot, execution style, but the robbers “don’t kill kids,” so he is spared with a warning. If he talks, his family will die.

Naturally, Jim hears about it. This particular crime hits close to home, though, as he went to school with the Rathbone parents.  The crime was also in their neighborhood. (Or close to it. The geography of this mysterious city baffles me.) He wants to help, and as always, is brushed off by the worst detective in the world. So Jim and George are forced to do what they always do:  comb the streets for a lead.  This leads to George nearly being arrested as a black man scouting out a nice neighborhood. (Ouch. Good legalese moment by George, though!)

As luck would have it, Rathbone is Daphne’s classmate.  She eases close to him in the hall, and offers her support. As she grasps his hand, she discovers a startling new element to her powers–she can see what he saw. She runs home to share this new development with Jim and Stephanie, who are suitably impressed, but discourage her from using it to help solve crime. But Daphne persists, and gets a clear image of the burned robber, whom she describes to Jim.  Jim sketches it and hands it to the detective, and pleads with him to keep Rathbone’s identity a secret. Worst Detective in the World promptly puts it on the evening news. The burned robber sees it. Rathbone’s days are numbered.

Meanwhile, Stephanie’s evil parents believe something kooky is up.  Jim is away all the time, Stephanie is now the perfect mom, and the cupboards reveal lots of food and tennis shoes. Unable to pry anything incriminating out of their daughter, Allen decides to just keep calling JJ dumb because it helps him feel more like a man.  Naturally, Jim and JJ get fed up, and bring out the powers to get revenge. JJ challenges Gramps to a game of pool, and wins his prized sports car.  It was admittedly pretty awesome. See, JJ? If you’d kept quiet and sociopathic about your powers, you wouldn’t have a sweet car! (On the other hand, you’re still destined to be a supervillain since Stephanie undermined you by taking the car and giving it to Daphne.)

Everything comes to an ugly head at a family dinner.  Fearing for the Rathbone family, Jim is spying on their house when Stephanie texts him, begging him to come home for roast.  The in-laws belittle him, and then accuse him off having an affair.  Jim and Stephanie storm off.  While she relaxes at the Grand Canyon, Jim receives a call from George.  The burned robber is in the Rathbone house!

Jim bounces to the scene. Finally, he does what he hasn’t gotten to do for 6 episodes:  he saved someone’s life. It was his great Superman moment at last.  It took 6 episodes, but he finally fought some crime!  Sure, Rathbone saw his face, but the kid can keep a secret. But he unwittingly (or was it?) shares it with Daphne, who touches his hand, and sees her dad doing something wonderful.   The proud look on her face was possibly the most genuine moment I’ve seen out of the entire Powell family.

But the writers seem to have stumbled on that accidentally, because they wrap up the Barbara and Allen storyline in the most artificial way possible.  They apologize with lots of smiles and laughter, and Jim and Stephanie shrug and say “Oh, well, we probably just don’t communicate that well with you, either!”  No, no, no!  Family members who behave this way are never, ever invited back.  You don’t call your grandkid stupid, and then just laugh it off as “Oh, well, I guess I was wrong about you all.” Stephanie should have superspeed-packed their bags, and told them never to return.   But this is no ordinary family, after all, and I guess their superpowers give them a thick skin that’s immune to all the slings and arrows that are dealt them.  That’s the only explanation for why they keep grinning and bearing such awful treatment from everyone they know.

By the episode’s end, the Powells seem to have turned a corner. They’re tighter as a unit, they’ve accepted their powers, and they seem to finally realize they can do a little good with them. While the show still feels hollow in a lot of ways, little moments–Daphne seeing her father as a hero, JJ being honest, Jim finally feeling worthwhile–suggest the writers can stumble on some truth. If only they would hit their stride, and make every hour resonate, I’d feel like the Powells could join the ranks of real superheroes.  For now, it still feels like they’re playacting.

No Ordinary Family – “No Ordinary Visitors” – review is a post from: Cullen Boys Anonymous

If there’s one thing that could sell us on a 3D horror movie, it’s one of our favorite “Twilight Saga” actors’ pretty faces attached to it. Jackson Rathbone is ready to take another crack at the supernatural, according to Variety. A deal is being finalized for him to join “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” star Bill Nighy in an adaptation of the horror novel “Shadowland.”The story follows two boys who go to an all-male prep school in Arizona and form a friendship based on their mutual love for magic tricks. We assume Jackson would be playing one of those students, which leaves the second student role up for grabs. The two buds go to stay at the bizarre home of a weird magician uncle—sounds like Bill to us—and he trains them in illusions. The line between what is real and what is make-believe become blurred, and they end up in an alternate reality where they have to combat dark powers. Okay, so we’re pretty intrigued.

The flick will film in Ireland and the U.K., though we’re not quite sure how filmmakers are going to turn the grassy Great Britain countryside into something that looks like the Arizona desert. However, what we’re most interested in is who will play Jackson’s wingman.

We’re hoping for someone like “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World”’s Kieran Culkin or “Charlie Bartlett”’s Anton Yelchin. They both have quirky senses of humor, just like Jackson, but also display a deep acting sensibility. To be sure, Jackson deserves a costar who is going to push him beyond the range he’s been allowed to show in his previous films (sorry, “Last Airbender”).

For Jackson I would brave a 3D horror film. I hope he does get the part so we can see another side of him.

I’ve got Breaking Dawn baby news for you!

Nope, none of the stars are expecting a new bundle of joy (at least not that we know of), but…

Jackson Rathbone tells me that the cast is very impressed by screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg’s treatment of the much-talked-about birthing scene in BD. “I think people are really really excited and surprised about how tastefully it can be done,” he said at Spike TV’s Scream Awards.

Nikki Reed echoed Rathbone’s enthusiasm. “It’s intense,” she said. “It’s really intense.

“I play a pivotal role in this because this is what Rosalie has always wanted, you know what I mean?” she continued. “So, I’m working really hard. I’m with my acting coach every day…Like three hours a day, I’m with her. I really care about this and I want it to be good.”

Although they’ll be shooting both BD movies until next spring, Rathbone and Reed know that saying goodbye when they wrap won’t be easy. “I’ve had an amazing time working with the cast and you know, the fans have been incredible and they’ve been so supportive of all us,” Rathbone said. “It’s going to be sad.”

“It’s not ending for a long time,” Reed said with a big smile. “But I’m going to be sad and here’s why: I’m working with really great people, people that I love. I’ve worked with some really talented directors. I’ve traveled all over the world with the series.”

I know some of this is repeat but I would rather be safe and not miss anything.

Kristen Stewart was the belle of Spike TV’s annual Scream Awards at the weekend, as Twilight swept the board at the ceremony.

Kristen picked up Best Fantasy Actress and was joined by co-stars Jackson Rathbone and Nikki Reed to pick up the Best Fantasy Film award for Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Best Fantasy Actor was awarded to co-star  Robert Pattinson and Xavier Samuel scooped The Ultimate Scream and Breakout Male Performance.

“Fans may come because of Twilight, but they stay because of the music,” Ben Graupner said in his interview with Blast.Graupner is a member of 100 Monkeys, a funky rock band that is also made up of “Twilight” star Jackson Rathbone, as well as Jerad Anderson, Ben Johnson and Lawrence Abrams (whom they call “Uncle Larry”).

The 100 Monkeys has rapidly been gaining popularity over the last few years. In July, they released “Live and Kicking,” a live album with tracks from their most recent tour around the country.

The 100 Monkeys are an indie band distinguished not only by their wide musical range and astonishing energy, but by their performance as well. Don’t be surprised to see the band members switch instruments and vocalists every other song during their theatrical live sets. It’s just their “Monkey Switcheroo.”

“It’s a huge party,” Graupner said about their performances. “That’s exactly what it is. It will make you smile and move. The lights come up, the energy thrums and then it’s just a bunch of fun.”

The goal of the 100 Monkeys is simple: to have fun and inspire creativity. That’s where their name comes from – the 100 monkeys affect, the idea that once a large group of people start doing something it spreads to everyone else and becomes common knowledge. 100 Monkeys aims to inspire people on this same principal.

Graupner chatted with Blast about the music, current and upcoming projects and jamming with his friends.

BLAST: What is your favorite instrument?

Ben Graupner: Oh man, that’s a hard one. It changes from moment to moment. Right now my favorite instrument is the piano. But I don’t know what it’s going to be tomorrow.

BLAST: Are you playing any new instruments?

BG: Yeah, actually we got this really great, cool…well we actually have a couple of cool new ones. Jackson (Rathbone) got gifted this five string guitar from Puerto Rico. I don’t know the actual name for it, but the thing is pretty awesome. We also got, from some fans in Texas, an instrument called a waterphone, which you play with a violin bow and it sounds like those screeching sounds you hear in a horror movie; it’s really fun. And we have a musical saw; we’ve been playing lately too.

BLAST: Some fans on Twitter suggested the bagpipe.BG: (Laughs) Oh yeah, who knows. Maybe one day someone will pick one up. But that’s one of the trickiest instruments to learn, kind of like the violin. You just have to have the time.

BLAST: How many instruments do you play?

BG: You know I haven’t really kept count. I kind of have a varied skill level on all the different ones, but we’ll really pick up anything and give it a whirl.

BLAST: The music of 100 Monkeys has been described as a fusion of rock, jazz, blues, folk and even country. What would you call it?

BG: We always call it funky rock and roll, but we’re always throwing in something to change it up. We play a lot of country style tunes; we love to plays blues and things like that. We kind of look at the catalogue of music that we’ve been making, and we see if there’s a gap in there. Like if we haven’t done a reggae song in a while or we haven’t done something with kind of a hip hop beat, we’ll do a song then just for the sake of having one like that.

BLAST: What is your favorite part about performing in front of an audience?

BG: All of it. (Large audiences, small audiences) it’s all the same. It’s just all so wonderful. That’s one of the best parts about performing – how varied it is. You can really turn anything into a stage or venue whether it’s a parking lot or bowling alley or a candy store or a giant theater for six hundred people or a thousand people – you name it.

BLAST: Do you have a favorite 100 Monkeys song?

BG: I really don’t. I really like playing “The Thank You Song,” that’s a staple we play at almost every performance and the make up songs are always great too.

BLAST: What’s the best improv (make up) song that you’ve done?

BG: Oh, I don’t know. There are just too many. I was just listening to the tracks from the last tour we were on, you know the house recordings, and we had one called “Road Trip” that we played in a venue up in Vancouver and that was just a fantastic make up song. It was just really great, with everyone yelling and having a great time.

We try to do improv songs at every show. There’s been a few exceptions, but almost every show we’ve played we’ve made up at least one song, sometimes two or three.

Of course (some of those songs have been a complete disaster). There have been some where the endings don’t come the way you want them to, or the middle just doesn’t happen the way we want it. It’s just part of the territory.

BLAST: Describe your song writing process.

BG: It’s different every times. Sometimes someone writes it in its entirety and brings it into the band, and then we’ll all work in specific instruments. Other times we’ll all be jamming on the riff, and it will evolve into a song like “Future Radio.” We made that song in the course of a day, and we were just kind of hanging in our studio playing and it evolved.

Other songs like “Junkie” and “The Thank You Song,” we’ve been playing for as long as we can remember, and they’re different every time because there’s a staple album and improv album. That song (“The Thank You Song”) was originally this jazz riff that Uncle Larry was playing on the piano and then we put the bass line behind it and Jackson started singing you know, (singing) “Thank you for existing.” So the process is different every time.

BLAST: What are you guys working on now?

BG: We’re finishing up our sophomore album. We’re going to be announcing its release date the first week of November. We’ve got almost all of the tracks laid down, and we’re going into the mixing stage. We’re really excited about it. It’s a great project.

We aren’t going to know (how many songs will be on it) until we’re finished. We recorded our songs, and they need to fit on one single CD. So when we go in to mix the album, we’re going to have to pick which ones go on there. Maybe the other ones, we’ll keep for our next project. Perhaps we’ll just release them as singles. We don’t know.

We actually don’t have a name (for the album) yet. We sit around all day throwing names at the wall, and you know we just don’t know what we’re going to call it yet. We’re still waiting.

There will be some tracks that we’ve been playing live for a while; there will be some tracks from way back when the band just started; there’s also going to be some tracks that we’ve never played in public. So there’s a little bit of everything on the CD.

BLAST: Do you know the release date for the “Live & Kickin’” DVD? The “Live & Kickin’” DVD will feature clips from 100 Monkeys’ last tour of the U.S.BG: We know it’s going to be released before Christmas. We’ve just finished shooting all of the footage for the DVD, and the director has been compiling it all. He’s actually coming over tonight (Wednesday Sept. 29) to show us some of the footage that he’s been doing. But we don’t have an exact release date yet. When we do, we’ll obviously announce it on the website.

BLAST: So, tell me a little bit about Awesome Sauce.

BG: Yeah, definitely. We’re putting together a project called Awesome Sauce, for which we’re going to be starting up an internet radio station for all sorts of other small indie bands like 100 Monkeys that are breaking through with new fresh music. We’re going to be compiling them all and putting it on a page you can access through the 100 Monkeys page. It’s going to launch Oct. 19. We want it to kind of be the meeting place for all the music of this new genre that’s coming out. BLAST: Please tell me, we’re going to see you guys back on tour soon.

BG: Yes. We’re going to be announcing more tour dates early November, and we’re going to be playing a bunch or shows down in the Baton Rouge area. We have one more show in Los Angeles, and then we’re going to pack up our stuff and move down to the South for a few months. We’re going to keep on working on some projects down there. There will be some small shows and some big shows.

BLAST: Is a soundtrack for the “Girlfriend” movie going to be available? (The 2010 film stars Rathbone and Anderson, features music by the 100 Monkeys, and is produced by Anderson and co-produced by Rathbone. It tells the story of a young man with Down’s Syndrome who romantically pursues a small town single mom mixed up with her volatile ex-boyfriend.)

BG: The soundtrack for the Girlfriend movie has been heavily discussed. Jared’s in the process of finishing all the pieces that go into ending a movie and turning it over to the distributers, and we’re getting to the point of finding out whether they’ll okay us to put a soundtrack together. But we’ve got a lot of great music we’re ready to put on it. Bands like Bigfoot, Spencer Bell, a couple tracks by 100 Monkeys of course – we have all sorts of great stuff for it.

BLAST: Will we see a second part of “Live and Kickin’” (the live album 100 Monkeys released in July 2010)?

BG: We’re planning on releasing a “Live and Kickin’” two and maybe a three and a four. It’s a project we want to continue on for years and years, so we can keep cataloging the tours that we’re doing, and putting down CDs so that if you weren’t able to make it down on that specific tour then you can still grab “Live and Kickin’” and see what it was all about.

BLAST: Do you think that you’ll personally do anything else with acting?

BG: Yeah, of course. In the near future, I hope.

BLAST: What are your aspirations for 100 Monkeys?

BG: We just want to share our music with as many people as possible. One of the biggest rewards for us as a band is when we see people circulating creativity and circulating music, and emailing us artwork. If we’re inspiring something else creative from someone, that’s the highest honor for us.

BLAST: Did you always want to be a musician?

BG: I’ve always been an entertainer; everyone in the band has been an entertainer since birth. I know Ben Johnson did plays and things when he was a kid, began playing in bands when he was first starting out at college. We met in high school.

The same thing goes for Jackson. Lawrence has been playing the percussion since he was literally four years old. His mom was a stage entertainer. She was a singer and a dancer, and he was always in that environment in Chicago. So ever since he could literally walk, he’s been on stage performing and entertaining people. That’s just what we do, whether it’s a rock show or a movie or a book or a poem. Anything we do we’re doing to inspire other people and make them happy.

I got into music when I was like 20, 19. I had to play some guitar for a show I was doing, I very quickly became attached to it and from there I just started playing a bunch of different instruments. I’ve been singing my entire life.

BLAST: What in your career has meant the most to you?

BG: It’s different every day. The Spencer Bell Legacy Projects have been a tremendously rewarding part of what we do. Spencer Bell was a friend and artist that we lost a few years ago to a rare form of cancer, and he was only 19 years-old. Since then we’ve been doing benefit shows to benefit cancer research at the University of Michigan. We also bring together all the bands and artists who worked with him while he was alive, and we throw this awesome rocking concert. It happens about every six months. It’s turning into a mini music festival. We come out and share music with people over the internet, all over the world (the show is webcast live) and benefits a great cause – it’s a really wonderful thing.

BLAST: How would you describe your band mates?

BG: (Laughs) I don’t know how you could put a button kind of phrase description on any member of the group. All the people who work with 100 Monkeys, we’re so blessed to have each other and be who we are. Because we’re a bunch of artists and entertainers and it’s a rough career being out there and it’s not something you would want to do a lone, and we don’t have to. We’re so lucky to have each other.

We all met in different places. Ben Johnson, Jackson and I went to the same high school in Michigan; and then Jackson met Jared after he moved out to Los Angeles; and Jackson and I met Uncle Larry on the set of an independent film we were doing called “Molding Clay.”

BLAST: What was your weirdest encounter with a fan?

BG: (Laughing) Oh, they’re different all the time. We’ve had our faces licked. We’ve received boxes of eggnog that the eggnog containers broke in the mail so it was just this big box of milky soup with packing peanuts. There’s just so much.

BLAST: Do you ever get tired of being on the road?

BG: No (Laughs), actually I’m the opposite. I get tired of not being on the road.

BLAST: Okay, let’s get a little silly. What super power would you pick if you could have one?

BG: Being able to fly. That sounds pretty cool.

BLAST: Anything else for the fans?

BG: Awesome Sauce radio. We’re really excited about it. To Twilight fans, Jackson is known as Jasper Hale – a vampire with the ability to manipulate emotions. But Jackson is more than your garden-variety brooding vampire. Born in Singapore, he lived in Indonesia, London, Connecticut, California and Norway before his family settled in Midland, Texas. In high school, he enrolled in a Michigan arts academy to focus on acting. While there, he met a couple of guys who are still part of his band, 100 Monkeys. His new movie, Girlfriend, is the story of a man with Down syndrome who has a tangled love affair with a single mother. Jackson, who also produced the movie, plays a troubled ex-boyfriend.
