Erin Green from Tonic.com has a fantastic article about the Edward Cullen/Robert Pattinson effect on women. They site Dr. Helen Fisher, biological anthropologist at Rutgers University and author of “Why We Love: The Nature and Chemistry of Romantic Love.”

When you look at this chaos through the eyes of Fisher’s brain-scan research, all of the behavior may not seem rational, but it does get a little more logical. Hang onto your Twilight lip venom and Team Jacob water bottles; we’re heading into the heads of devoted, smitten, frenzied women.

Our group was interviewed for the article during the premiere & quoted in it a few times.  Here is one excerpt:

When women recognize traits in a person (or fictional characters, as it were) that they’d want in their own mates, Fisher says the reward system in their brains become active. The brain sprays positive signals and natural drugs, specifically the pleasant-feeling dopamine, all over the place. Physiologically speaking, Fisher said in a TED speech, this is the same spot in the brain that “becomes active also when you feel the rush of cocaine.”

Edward Cullen is literally causing a feel-good drug reaction in women’s heads.

The co-owner of fan-site Cullen Boys Anonymous, Kim Clarkson, says visitors to her site joke about this all the time asking, “What did Stephenie Meyer put in these books?”

What a Wonderful New Moon Premier!

The New Moon Premier last night was amazing! No matter where you were in the crowd, if you got to see Rob, it was a good day.
One of the great experiences of sleeping in the streets for one of these events is the friendships you form in the line with you neighbors. Believe me you have a lot to bond over. (On the second night, the sprinkler system came on, drenching us all and all our sleeping gear, in 50 degree degree weather.)
The best in-line surprises however was Charley Bewley. What a good guy. He came and visited us at least 5 times – sometimes jogging by in the AM, sometimes wearing wigs, and some time just standing on the corner, seeing how long it would take for us to notice him. The premier was a success right there for us! Team Demetri! Cameron Bright and Kiowa Gordon also stopped by to brighten our evening. There were reported but unconfirmed sighting of other stars as well.
My daughter got the big prize, Rob’s signature, so she was thrilled and I got Chris Weitz and Stephenie Meyer, so I was thrilled. And, we got lots of pics.
All in all, it was a great time, we had a great view of all of the stars and made a lot of great friends. Wish you all could have been there. Maybe next time…this June?
I’ll be putting up pics as I get them downloaded but I just couldn’t wait to tell you all about the premier.

How I Got Robert Pattinson’s Autograph!
Nov 17

I went to the red carpet New Moon Premiere as many of you know. I was with a group of 3 awesome ladies. We camped out for 5 days & were the front of the line! For the actual red carpet premiere I was #1 in line & Alison from Twifans.com was #2 followed by our friends Dawn & Yolee. Yolee (black hair & glasses) who was in the #4 spot on the red carpet was committed that I would get Rob’s autograph since I didn’t get it at the Twilight premiere even though the person who was right next to me did.

As you can see in this video, the stars don’t always start signing with the first person in line. Alison & I were skipped :(  Uley got to talk to Rob & got his autograph, then she turns & asks us if we got it. We say no *tear* & as you can see in this video a miracle happens. Yolee somehow gets to talk to Rob again & tells him how we had been camping for 5 days just like she had & that we didn’t get his autograph. This video is priceless. Rob came back & signed our stuff. I got my New Moon movie companion signed & my Robsicle! He laughed when he saw it. :) I can never thank Yolee enough for sending Rob back to us, you are my hero! Thanks to Rob for coming back, you are so sweet, classy & a genuinely nice person.

What an epic fairy tale night! As if getting Rob’s autograph wasn’t enough we also got to see New Moon! *dies* Yes, I am serious. Thank you to Summit for being so kind to us & giving our group passes. Really “thank you” can’t even express how grateful I am to you. The movie is made of awesome!!!
