I was about to post that earlier, but then ROB’s SINGING happened (see post below), so here it is now! :)

As far as I know, the story does not have an official banner, so I borrowed this amazing artwork I found on DeviantArt a while ago, made by Alicexz. I hope she doesn’t mind, it is her own work and it is beautiful! (Go check her other artworks too!)

Emmett and Rosalie by alicexz Monday Fanfiction Recommendation: The Ice Queen and Mr McCarty by Sebastien Robichaud

The Ice Queen and Mr McCarty by Sebastien Robichaud

They called her the Ice Queen. They called him Mister McCarty. This is their story. AU/AH/OOC/Some canon elements

Twilight – Rated: M – Romance/Hurt/Comfort – Words: 47,131 – Rosalie & Emmett – IN PROGRESS

First of all, let me say how much I love Sebastien Robichaud (or SR, as the fandom lovingly calls him), one of the biggest enigmas among the fanfiction authors. Almost a year after having read his very famous and very amazing story (not today’s rec), I still do not know much about this author apart from the fact that his writing is captivating, beautiful and worth every second of your time. Just to prove my words – the story in question is now a published book (which I proudly possess) and let me quote a friend – “Everyone in the fandom AND everyone’s mother has read that story…” So if you haven’t – you’ve missed out! (If you’d like to know more, ask me in the comments!)

But today is about SR’s other story – “The Ice Queen and Mr McCarty”. As you’ve guessed/seen already, it’s about Rosalie and Emmett! What a breath of fresh air, right? It’s so difficult to find good stories about the other couples and this one is more than good! It is sad, hopeful, warm, smile-worthy and it deals with issues that, unfortunately, too many people have to deal with in their lives. The story has a calmness about it, a quiet, serene vibe that I love, especially when most authors these days emphasize the drama, the big cliffies and the “OMG!” factor. This is not to say that this story is boring or tedious – nope, that’s far from the truth. It’s just different. Good different. It has its pain, heartache and healing, but it’s written in a way that comforts you.

Emmett is dreamy, in every sense of the word. Respectful, wonderful, handsome, selfless, compassionate, smart… Rosalie is a wounded soul, a beautiful woman in need of someone to heal her, to break the ice around her heart. Their way towards each other is not an easy one. But it’s just meant to be.

Enjoy! Until next Monday! :)

MiT Monday Fanfiction Recommendation: Moment in Time by Yogacat

Moment in Time by Yogacat (”banner” done by me quickly, because I didn’t have anything to go with the story)

Summary: “Time is eternal. It never stops, always passes. Sometimes, there is not enough and sometimes, time never heals.”

Twilight – Rated: M – Romance/Angst – Words: 15,156 –  Bella & Edward

Hello all!

First, I’d like to apologize for last week’s lack of fic recommendation. I was busy camping out for the London WFE premiere and I promise to do a post on this by the end of the week (with some great pictures as well)!

It’s getting harder for me to pick stories because some or most of the things I read are either in progress or very M-rated and I know that the ladies here prefer Complete and less graphic stories. (By the way, if you want some good lemony ones, write to me in the comments). Also, I am waiting for a fic to be completed (only a chapter + epi left) to recommend it to you, it’s AMAZING and I can’t wait to share it with you!

The story I’ve picked this Monday is a one-shot, I found it a few days ago and then fangirled about it all night. It involves something that some of you may not be comfortable with – adultery. To be honest, I am all against it, for reasons this is not the place to discuss, but it’s different in this story. You’ll see when you read it, I just thought I should warn you. Please give it a chance though.

Why you should read it: It is beautiful. It is heart-breaking. It is heart-warming. It is need, passion, happiness, sorrow, whispered words, meaningful looks, a connections established at first glance… It will make you cry so hard but it will make you all warm on the inside as well. Written for the Never Ever Happily Ever After contest, this story will give you what it promises – no happy ending. You know it but you keep reading, because it draws you in. It’s powerful, it’s magical, it’s one of the best one shots I’ve ever read.

I know it’s sad, but please read it. I’m also aware that most of you prefer sweet, romantic fics, but just like in real life, not all love stories can have their happy endings…

Until next Monday! :)

Conversations Over Coffee by Cosmogirl7481

Twilight – Rated: M -Romance/Humor – Words: 8,149 – Edward & Bella – Complete

Conversations over coffee. Sometimes when you meet “the one,” falling is easy – as simple as talking. Effortless. You just have to find the words.

Why you should read it: I read this story on a flight several weeks ago and I can tell you, it was very difficult not to “Awww!” or giggle or sigh or stay still while I was reading. While we were landing, the lady next to me said “You were definitely enjoying whatever it was you were reading, I could tell” and she was right. That’s why I chose it for today’s recommendation.
This story is short and sweet, you’ll read it in one go. But what’s most amazing about it is how real it is. There’s no unnecessary drama, no cliffies, no extra suspense or secret plots. It’s just two people – honest, real and very, very believable. In a fandom where there are thousands of stories and each author tries to make theirs more intriguing than the rest, this fic is a true discovery. You won’t even realize how much you’ve missed reading something like it until you read it. :)
However, it can also be quite tricky. You know how with other more love-story-like fics you never feel like there’s a chance of them happening to you and that’s why you don’t mind reading? Well, with “Conversations Over Coffee” it’s easy to want to be Bella, just because what happens to her could easily be the life of one of us, the readers. And then you remember that it’s still a story and although it’s beautiful and sweet, it’s not happening to you… Oh well, the dangers of fanfiction :)
Go read it, I promise you’ll love it! And don’t forget to have a nice cup of coffee next to you while you’re enjoying it!

Monday Fanfiction Recommendation: “Songbird” by Sydney Alice

Songbird by Sydney Alice

Rated: M – Romance/Family – Words: 114,995 – Bella & Edward – Complete

On the eve of a wedding, a chance encounter in a piano bar leads to a weekend of passion. When faced with the consequences, will Bella and Edward overcome their differences and focus on what’s really important in life?

Why you should read it: Sydney Alice has quickly become one of my favourite fanfic authors out there and if you’ve read anything by her, you’ll know why. Her one-shots are amazing, but so are her longer stories and “Songbird” is a brilliant example for that. Don’t let the steamy first couple of chapters scare you away – this is not one of those plotless stories. It’s about two people’s journey to happiness, how they grow up together and overcome their insecurities. There are many intertwined stories in “Songbird” and each of them has a purpose – to make the characters grow, fight their fears, allow themselves to love truly, madly and deeply. There’s an added bonus – as many of Sydney’s stories, this one comes with a playlist – and it’s beautiful! Each chapter has its song and once again, it’s great to see how perfectly they work together!

Read it – I promise you won’t be disappointed! It made me cry, laugh, clap my hands excitedly…it’s simply wonderful!

Guide to Losing a Player in One Date by sleepyvalentina

In 1986, first-year med student Carlisle Cullen was not only on top of the world, but he’d also been on top of the majority of his female classmates. Can Esme Masen beat him at his own game? A FGB piece for katydid13.

Rated M Complete

This is a Carlisle and Esme Fic but don’t let that stop you from reading. It is no secret that I love the stories Art After 5 and Counterpoint and this is the tale of the Carlisle and Esme from that world. You do not need to read either of the other stories to enjoy this one but it does add something extra if you do. This is by far my favorite Carlisle and Esme that I have read in any fic. Take a chance and you just may fall in love too. Enjoy!

Monday Fanfiction Recommendation: Disjointed

Ladies,

I know that all the fics we recommend are amazing, but this… THIS one is beyond words. I can’t describe it very well, it’s so unique and touching! Please give it a go, it won’t take more than 40 minutes!

PS. Get some tissues! You’ll need them!

DisjointedBig Monday Fanfiction Recommendation: Disjointed

Blinkie by Rose Arcadia

Disjointed by Simone and Marie

Rated: M –  Drama/Angst – Chapters: 21 – Words: 12,375  - Edward & Bella – Complete

One Decision. Seven POVs. This is the aftermath. Canon Pairings, All Human, Rated M for Language

WHY you should read it (my review, borrowed from the Avante Garde Awards)

Disjointed may be short, but it is immensely powerful. And I mean powerful enough to leave you thinking about it, hurting over it, crying over it and needing more. The story is heart-breaking and it definitely ignites an internal conflict – whose side are you on? What would you do in this situation? Would you forgive?

While you’re left there getting a headache over what you ‘re feeling (sadness? anger? pity? compassion?), the characters go through the very same process of discovering how they feel about everything that’s happening. Usually, more than two points of view in a fic can get confusing, even messy. But it is precisely the 7 points of view that make this fic to unique and heart-wrenching. Not only do you see the story through a different lens but you also get an idea about the complexity of what has happened. Just like life itself, it’s not all black and white – accusations are easy to make, but everyone has a role to play, a price to pay and consequences to endure. Each of the POVs is written uniquely – there’s no confusion between the characters, because their strong personalities shape the tone and atmosphere of the chapters. It truly feels like you’re in their heads, feeling their pain as if it was yours.

I can’t urge you enough to go read it! If you need the biggest reason of all, it’s this: Disjointed will make you re-consider your views on love, friendship, duty, guilt and atonement. After all, are we even capable to judge who deserves forgiveness?

Also, Simone and Marie are two wonderful ladies! Show them some love – read and review, the story is worth it!

The Art Teacher by spanglemaker9

He gave me art and words and passion and life, but all I wanted was him.

So I read this in a day. I loved everything about it. It is smart, real and short. Sometimes I don’t have it in me to read a 40 chapter story. This was perfect. It gave me everything I wanted and needed without excess. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did!

A Player to be Named Later by theheartoflife & hmonster4

Love is a combination of quantum physics, molecular attraction, & timing, right? Two people, brought together by fluke or divine intervention sticking true to the old cliché–you have to play 1 day at a time. A FGB novella by theheartoflife & hmonster4

A few thing this week. Here is some Em/Rose for you. It is Beautifully told.

Now I have a favor to ask. I discovered a contest that I fell in love with and am begging for more entries.

Who doesn’t Love a Fairytale? Contest

Twilight fanfiction recommendation: A Player to be Named Later

I am not connected with it in any way other then wanting more Fairy Tales told with Twi Folks. They are my favorite thing to read ever.  The Contest Welcomes Pairing of all kinds and is being done anonymously. (Meaning no one will know who the author is until after the contest.) That is a great thing for first time writers bc it evens the playing field. I did a whole post here about it if you need ideas or want a laugh. :)

edwardbellabanner Twilight fanfiction recommendation: Twilight No Stress Love Fest

So on this day of love I thought this fest was perfect. It has something for everyone. I would take a look at the first post that explains how Live Journal works if you are unfamiliar with it.  Here is a list of the “tag” so you can see all the kinds of stories on there.  Here is a bit more on what this fest is about:

[info]twi_love_fest is the creation of [info]naelany and [info]otta_ff , who got to talking and thought we’d try our hand at an anonymous, easy going, prompted Valentine’s Day fest. We welcome written and artistic contributions.  All you need to do is grab a prompt (or a few), write/create whatever you’d like, and have fun!

This is a fest, not a contest.  While the fest community is hosted on LiveJournal, you do not need to have a LiveJournal account to participate. There will be no judges, voting or winners announced. Instead, there will be anonymous fiction/art posts, a couple of weeks to read/view contributions, a chance to guess who you think wrote/created what and a big reveal post at the end of the fest. If you choose to participate, we’ll have a little something pretty for you to thank you for sharing your talent with us.

I hope all find something there to enjoy and have a great day!
