It looks like a celebratory dinner—catered by Kristen Stewart, perhaps?—is in order on the “Breaking Dawn” set. “Twilight“’s own Christian Serratos, who plays Bella’s bespectacled bud Angela, has just landed a lead role in the new as-yet-untitled Brenda Hampton pilot on ABC Family.Deadline broke the news that Christian was cast along with Katelyn Tarver (”Big Time Rush”), Valerie Tian (”Juno”) and Ana Lucasey (”Lie to Me”) in the hour-long drama that follows four ethnically diverse teen girls attending a private school in California. (We handicapped the series’ prospects last month.)

Of all the fresh faces to emerge from the “Twilight” franchise, Christian seems to be the one who’s flown the most under casting directors’ radars. In addition to the “Breaking Dawn,” Christian has only one other movie in the works, 2011’s “96 Minutes.” We’re glad to see her finally getting her due—in a lead role to boot!

Of course, Christian isn’t the first “Twilight” star to grace the small screen. Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone and Cam Gigandet all have ties to “The O.C.” Kellan Lutz appeared in several episodes of “90210” during its freshman season, and even superstar Taylor Lautner had a recurring role on Christian Slater’s defunct spy series “My Own Worst Enemy.” Christian’s resume is also chock-full of small roles including parts on “Hannah Montana,” “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide” and Brenda Hampton’s other series “7th Heaven.” Fortunately, if Christian needs any TV tips, it looks like she has a cast-full of pros to turn to. Congratulations, Christian!

Update: Some sensible comments for the Lex on this one:

Breaking Dawn will shoot in October. Christian Serratos apparently slipped at the Australian convention this weekend and mentioned that. Previously other cast members (Kristen and Kellan) have said they’ve been asked to keep November clear. Our take (this isn’t official, just our conjecture putting together info from lots of sources and having tracked this stuff for awhile): they will start principal photography late October early November. We’d also bet that it will be two films since both Melissa and Stephenie have said they feel there’s enough material for that, and given the possibility for points of view beyond Bella’s this would seem to make sense. What is certain, no matter if it is one of two films, is that it won’t be more than a PG-13 rated film because that is part of the contractual conditions of it being made. You can still have effective steamy romance (a la Remember Me) and medical gore (a la ER the TV series) and be under rated R.

So many rumors, so little time…Do you think this reported “October” quip is a slip from Ms. Serratos or just more teasing?

It’s fun to speculate about Breaking Dawn, especially since that is about all we can do!

While Serratos’s Eclipse co-stars Gil Birmingham, Daniel Cudmore and Booboo Stewart remained coy about the film’s start date, the actor and sometime model accidentally let the cat out of the bag.

“No word is out yet,” Stewart said, to which Serratos quickly replied “No, October.”

Birmingham, who plays Taylor Lautner’s father Jacob Black, quickly tried to cover up the blunder.

“We could tell you, but we’d have to kill you – like we will Christian,” he said.

The four Eclipse stars, who flew out today, have been in Australia for the Twilight convention held at Melbourne University on Sunday.”

Christian Serratos, Alex Meraz and Daniel Cudmore traveled to Oceana Navel Air Station in Virginia on Wednesday for a New Moon DVD Release Party.They posed for photos with fans and met wounded Marines. How great is that!

VIRGINIA BEACH — The lines were long and the affection WAS genuine for Daniel Cudmore, Christian Serratos and Alex Meraz, aka Felix, Angela and Paul in the vampire versus wolfpack love stories known as the Twilight Saga. NAS Oceana invited the trio to meet the troops and appear at the Exchange. Actor Alex Meraz said he got his start six years ago in Colonial Williamsburg as an extra in the movie New World. “Six years later, almost to the day, I am flying back here. It’s a private jet and I am looking around. It’s so bizarre to me. It was really really humbling,” said Meraz. 300 families won a chance to meet the actors onstage and get a photo taken with them. “It was great and we loved coming out and meeting the characters of the show we’ve read the books. We love it. We watched the movies dozens of times. We’re total Twi-hard fanatics,” said Deborah Boggs. The Navy presented the three with jackets and caps from VFA-31 “The Tomcatters.” The actors also got a ride in a simulator.

Yesterday, Summit (Via @Twilight Twitter) announced “Tomorrow make sure check @Twilight often as we make some exciting #NewMoonDVD announcements!”

Today, they declared “The cast and crew of New Moon are going to some #NewMoonDVD midnight release parties this Friday! Check back often as we let you know who is going where for the #NewMoonDVD Midnight release parties!”

It appears they have been announcing them on the hour, but here is what we know so far:

Peter Facinelli is going to New York for New Moon DVD Party.

Edi Gathegi will be in Pittsburgh.

Chaske Spencer and Tyson Houseman will be in Atlanta.

Melissa Rosenberg (Screenwriter) will be in Seattle.

Justin Chon, Christian Serratos, and Michael Welch will be in Salt Lake City.

Charlie Bewley will be in Denver.

Elizabeth Reaser will be in Phoenix.

Kiowa Gordon and Tinsel Korey will be in Cincinnati.

Daniel Cudmore will be in Houston.

Last, but not least. Nikki Reed and Chris Weitz in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, they have not announced which location the cast members will attend, only the city.  So, if you happen to be attending a party in one of these cities, cross your fingers you choose the right one.

On Christmas Day, Christian Serratos posted a photo on her Twitter account, of her as a child with her mother on Christmas. It was so sweet of her to share, what’s so obviously, a cherished childhood memory with us.

MTV has an interview with Christian Serratos where she talks about ‘New Moon’
and her own personal ‘Twilight’ collection. They also have a short video in which
she talks about the cafeteria set on ‘New Moon’.

MTV: What do you have in your “Twilight” clothes collection?

Serratos: I have a lot of “Twilight” gear. I love the hoodies that say “vampires” and “werewolves,” but I refuse to get one because I can’t choose; I have to have them both. I have the Team Edward T-shirt, but I also have Team Jacob.

MTV: Why is there no “Team Human” stuff?

Serratos: That’s what I’m saying! I think we should take it into our own hands.

MTV: What kind of merchandise would you like to see for Angela, Mike and the other humans?

Serratos: Probably it would be an imitation of my glasses? … [It would be easy] going to a convention where you have to dress up, and you’re like “Oh, I am dressed up!” “No you’re not!” “Yes I am. I’m a human!”

MTV: OK, so let’s talk “New Moon” a little bit. How was the shoot?

Serratos: Chris [Weitz] was amazing, like, fantastic. I was really happy working with him. We shot in Vancouver [British Columbia], which was a good change from Portland [Oregon]. I love the city Portland, and I’ve been back there since, but in Vancouver the weather was a lot better, and I didn’t wanna die at the end of the day, because it wasn’t extremely cold. I’m excited to go film “Eclipse.” That’s gonna be next month already — they are already cranking it out.

MTV: And they’ll be shooting that in Vancouver as well?

Serratos: Yeah. I haven’t read the script yet. I didn’t bring my laptop with me, so I saw it on my phone — on my e-mail — and I was like, “I wish I could download this as an attachment, but I can’t!”

MTV: What did you think of the footage we saw at Comic-Con, of Rob as a “hallucination”?

Serratos: I still haven’t seen it; but I wanted to stay and watch it. Rob’s gonna be in it a lot more [than in the book]. I really love how they did that. It was really clever.

MTV: You seem like you’re as much of a fan as an actor sometimes.

Serratos: Oh, God, yeah. We’re all “Twilight” fans. We all read the books, we all fell in love with the books — and being a part of it is great and everything, but we want to see the footage!

Christian Serratos must have seen how much fun Rachelle Lefevre & Peter Facinelli have on Twitter at the Vampire Baseball event this weekend because now she has joined Twitter too. According to Amanda Bell, the Twilight Examiner, Christian sent out a message via her official MySpace that she is now on Twitter.  Here is Christian’s first tweet:
