The Miami Hurricane has a new interview with Edi Gathegi where he talks a bit about his character Laurent, ‘New Moon’ and Rob.

Here’s a taste of part of the interview:

TMH: So for those who don’t know, what’s Laurent’s character doing in the second one?
Edi: What he’s not doing is being good. He’s not conflicted anymore. He’s not bad, but I’m a vampire. I kill humans, but if they [the Cullens] like humans, then maybe there’s something to that. I’m curious. Maybe I don’t want to get wrapped up in this game that James is playing. In this next movie, he’s very much like, ‘that was a fun, little experiment. I’m a vampire.’

TMH: Your character Laurent goes around shirtless basically all the time…
Edi: It’s cold, it’s cold.
TMH: His character shouldn’t get cold because he’s a vampire, but does Edi?
Edi: It’s a feat in acting right there when I have to stand out there in however zero, negative-degree weather, and your nipples are hard, cutting glass. Wow, I just went there. And I have to pretend that I’m a vampire and I’m not feeling nothing? If they did a closeup, you might actually see little hairs sticking up everywhere. It’s cold out there! [sings to the tune of Hustle & Flow's "Hard Out Here For a Pimp"] Hard out here for a vamp! In the first movie I was barefoot too. And that was awful! I was least looking forward to that in this movie, but [New Moon director] Chris Weitz was like, ‘wear shoes!’ And I’m like, ‘yeah?’ And he was like, ‘wear shoes!’ And I was like, ‘alright, cool!’
TMH: What kind of shoes?
Edi: Watch the movie.
TMH: [points at his shoes]
Edi: No high tops with the tongue sticking out. Not for Laurent. He’s too refined, he’s elegant.

TMH: If you were a teenage girl, would you be Team Edward or Team Jacob?
Edi: I’m not a teenage girl. Too hypothetical for me. I am Team Edward. I love Taylor [Lautner], not necessarily the Jacob character. Breaking down what the series is for me, I just love the idea of Edward and Bella. The idea of this character who cannot live without this other character. It’s just very romantic, and I support that. I don’t support the puppy love, I’m-going-to-break-it-up-because-I’m-a-brat type of thing.

TMH: Just to wrap it up, everyone loves Robert Pattinson now. [takes out a Cedric Diggory shirt] This was him in Harry Potter.
Edi: Wow, he looks the same.
TMH: Just a little bit younger.
Edi: Just a little younger, but he looks the same. It’s so funny man. It’s so funny how when the cast list came out, there was all that controversy. They hated him. How huge he is now. I just love it. I love how no matter what people are saying, you can always persevere and then you can reinvent yourself. You can actually get back on track like Robert Downey, Jr. I just love how Robert Pattinson…it’s funny because we all as a cast were like, ‘dude, you are so perfect for this, you’re so amazing!’ And he was a little like, ‘oh, but I’m not. They’re saying I’m not.’ Look now!

Forgive me if we have already posted this little gem before. A lucky fan at the Salute to Twilight Convention at the LAX Marriott gets taken on stage & gets a back rub from Edi and a foot rub from Peter, all while sitting on Kellan’s lap!

In the video, Peter talks about what he whispered in Robert’s ear just before he turned him into a vampire. It’s hilarious!

“I went to the Salute to Twilight Convention on May 3rd. Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) was supposed to be there, but she had to be flown to Vancouver last minute to film New moon. They found a replacement, Edi Gathegi (Laurent). Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen), Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen), and Michael Welch (Mike Newton) were also there. I also got pictures together with Peter and Kellan!! =) They are so adorable in person.” said luvallpups.

I hope she posts some of her pictures with Peter and Kellan. That would be great!

Two of CBA’s awesome readers, Chrissy & Marcella, just sent us their FABULOUS fan encounter with Kellan, Edi & Mike. Even though they didn’t have tickets, they decided to stop by the Grand Slam Sci-Fi Salute to Twilight Convention in LA on Sunday & boy did they get lucky!!

Here is part of what they had to say:

When we got there it was pretty late, around 5:30ish. We were on the way to buy the tickets but when we got to the room, from the looks of it they weren’t selling anymore tickets. So we went to the ladies rooms and we find our friends! we talked for awhile. So they went back in, we didn’t know what to do. We waited until people started going back into the main room. Once again we saw our friend, Jennifer. She told us if we walked by the green curtains we would get a to see Kellan Lutz, Peter Facinelli, Edi Gathegi, and Michael Welsh. OH yeah, she was so right!

Ade and I sit in a couch near the green curtains, and the closes to the curtains was Michael Welsh! I was trying to take pictures but no flash allowed so I was scared, once Michael looked my way, I waved! he waved back! he also saw that I was trying to get a picture of him so he waited and smiled at the same time! Mike is awesome. But stupid camera wasn’t working with me.

After that, Ade finally got up to see what they were doing. She saw them all get up, to take a little break. She grabbed me and told me we needed to go! So I listened and went along with her. She took us to the end of the rooms, not knowing what she was doing until we stopped. She told me she saw them go into a room. So I was like oh OK! this way. We made our way to the middle of the open room and lo and behold! Michael Welsh is walking towards us! first thing we do is smile and ask if we could get a picture with him *they weren’t allowed to take pictures with anyone* As he was walking away he said, yeah, but I stopped because he kept walking, he kinda give me the face like “I’m sorry, I would take the picture but this dude won’t let me.” *there was a guy with him at all times* He saw that I kind of made a sad face, so he came back and say, “OK, let’s go, and remember no one is supposed to know this happened.” Boy was I happy! we decided to take the picture as a group instead of solo, just because of the guy! darn that guy.

So we made our way down the hall at the end of the door, there were couches there also. We sat there not knowing what to do. As soon as I look up, the door opens in front of us, and our comes Edi Gathegi! Looked as if he was happy to see us there! He was very jumpy and had a big smile on his face. He came over and greeted us, giving us hugs! We asked if we could get a picture and he said sure! I went first, and then Ade. Just as soon as I was taking her picture out come Kellan Lutz! I swear to you, I yelled his name the loudest I could, but it was loud enough for a mouse to hear, nothing came out it was just a little, “Kellannn” but the weird part was it was like he heard me calling his name, because he looked at me once I said his name. I was speechless, Ade was calling him over but he walked away. It was so fast I didn’t believe he was there! but then one second later, he came right back and gave Ade a hug, his BEAR HUG! love it! and they took a picture. I was next! he gave me the biggest hug!! another bear hug, took me off the ground hug! I didn’t let go, I wanted a picture also, but like I said I didn’t let go forgetting the camera was in my hand the whole time. But then we let go, I handed Ade the camera, and she snapped one and then he smiled thanking us for being there and left. They were being rushed by some people, the twilighters were waiting to see them! Can we get any luckier? They are the best!

New Moon’s Taylor Lautner & Edi Gathegi strolling along after dinner yesterday in Vancouver. According to Lainey Gossip both Taylor & Edi were filming this week. She also has this to say concerning a Taylor/KStew hook-up:

“And if you’ve been reading in a bottom feeding rag that Kristen and Taylor are flirting on set, or that something romantic is going on… total bullsh-t. Ridiculous.

Kristen’s boyfriend Michael Angarano is still in town. They were together yesterday when her day was over.”

Does anyone else think of the scene in Eclipse where Laurent meets the wolf pack when they look at these pics?

He talks about pre-production & mentions that they did promotional photos for t-shirts & billboards, basically the Twilight merchandise we all love. He also tells us Laurent is less conflicted in New Moon and talks about how New Moon is different then Twilight.

“A year ago, they were young actors with few credits, traveling to Portland to shoot a low-budget vampire film with an indie director. This week, they’re returning to Vancouver as A-listers, filming one of the most eagerly anticipated sequels of the year.

Hollywood has finally taken notice of the stars of “Twilight” – and so have the dreaded paparazzi”

Kellan Lutz, the big trickster that he is, admits to playing pranks on the paparazzi: “It’s funny. Edi and myself – because they have been up there and they have really been [following] us – we’ve been messing with them,” Kellan Lutz said of recent pictures that include him taking photos of the photographers. “It’s great; we have been doing some pranks on them. I can’t really share any, but a lot of the pictures are planned.”
