Add Charlie Bewley to the list of Twilight stars who thinks Breaking Dawn should—and will—be made into two movies.

“The book is so heavy in terms of what happens and all the events,” Bewley, who plays Volturi vampire Demetri, tells me from the set of a movie he’s been filming in Moscow. “I think it’s inevitable.”

In fact, Bewley says, the first cut of New Moon was significantly longer than the two-hour version released in theaters…

“They had like a three-hour cut of the movie that didn’t make it,” Bewley tells me. “It had to get cut down—even though I’m sure everyone would have loved to have seen a three-hour New Moon.”

When asked about the fascination surrounding Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s off-camera relationship, Bewley insists he doesn’t understand the obsession.

“I have a way of answering the question,” he says. “It’s like, ‘What did Rob say when you asked what I had for breakfast this morning?’ Number one, he doesn’t know, and number two, he doesn’t give a f–k.

“That’s kind of the same way I feel about Rob and Kristen,” he continues. “I think they’re great and both really cool, but I don’t care if they’re together or not.”

As for Bewley’s own romantic life, the 29-year-old Brit admits, “I’m not dating anyone. I feel like an asexual right now. It’s kind of depressing. If you’ve got any hot chicks, throw them my way.”

But it’s not like he isn’t getting attention from females these days. A Twi fan recently sent him a link on Twitter to a photo of her getting a tattoo of his face on her thigh. “What do I say to her?” Bewley asks. “Thank you very much? Look forward to seeing you? I don’t know what to say.”

How did you get stuck with being here? Did you draw straws with the other Cullens?
I won it in a raffle! We put our names in a hat and mine was picked. No, actually, I was out here doing press for ‘Nurse Jackie’ and they asked me to do it and I said, “Sure, it sounds like fun.”

Do ‘Twilight’ fans quote anything to you most often?
“Whose going to want you now?” [Laughs] No, actually, I get asked to say, “Animal attack.”

In a press release today, Summit revealed details of the past weekend’s New Moon DVD sales, saying they have surpassed the first weekend sales of Twilight, selling just over 4 million DVD units in New Moon’s first weekend of release.Quoting Summit, ” As we have said all along, the fans are what make this franchise and we once again thank them for their support.” Here is the full press release from Summit:

First Weekend DVD Sales of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON Surpasses First Weekend Sales of TWILIGHT in 2009

Los Angeles, CA  March 23, 2010 – Summit Entertainment announced today that the home entertainment release of the studio’s action-packed, modern day vampire love story THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON sold just over 4 million DVD units in its first weekend of release.  The tally surpasses the first weekend sales of TWILIGHT in 2009 which sold 3.8 million DVD units, and went on to be the top selling DVD title of the year with 9.2 million units sold.  The DVD launch of NEW MOON commenced this past Saturday morning with 7,000 retail locations nationwide taking part in events at midnight giving fans their first chance to obtain a DVD of the film.

Thousands of TWILIGHT fans across the nation participated in the “NEW MOON at Midnight” event and some were treated to surprise appearances by members of the cast as well as the film’s director.  Fans saw actors Justin Chon who plays Eric, Christian Serratos who plays Angela, and Michael Welch who plays Mike in Salt Lake City; director Chris Weitz and Nikki Reed who plays Rosalie Hale in Los Angeles; Peter Facinelli who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in New York; Edi Gathegi who plays Laurent in Pittsburgh; and Liz Reaser who plays Esme Cullen in Phoenix.  Other cast members of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON made appearances nationwide including Kiowa Gordon and Tinsel Korey in Cincinnati; Charlie Bewley in Denver; Chaske Spencer and Tyson Houseman in Atlanta; Daniel Cudmore in Houston; and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg in Seattle.

Looking at the 2-disc New Moon Special Edition DVD and the single-disc Blu-ray versions, the people at FearNet came up with their “10 Best Tidbits”. What are your favorite things on the New Moon DVD?

If there is a 3 hour version, may I suggest they bring it out a box set when all the movies are done, or, better yet, re-release an extended version of the New Moon! You know we will go to see it in droves.

In part one of the extensive six-part documentary (titled “Life After Twilight”), New Moon’s cast talk about the craziness that ensued after the first film debuted and how the fervent fandom changed their lives. Between shots from the Twilight premiere and the infamously raucous Comic-Con panel, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Justin Chon, and more of their co-stars reminisce from the New Moon set on how Twilight changed everything. Best of all, Rob addresses his fans, who have come to worship Edward Cullen so much that they now, as he says, “defend my honor in reality.”
