Robert Pattinson Sings the Blues

On his first-ever visit to the Quarter, Pattinson jammed with the house band and thoroughly held his own—his celebrity perhaps subsumed by that of the musicians, whose legendary status awed everyone on set. “When we first started, none of us knew that Robert really does play piano,” says Ben Jaffe, the tuba player (center, above), the band’s director, and the son of the venue’s founders. “But when he got up there, he started ticking out these notes, and it was obvious he wasn’t just tinkling—he really knew how to play.” Though the musicians were expecting the actor to just pose, Pattinson gamely jammed along with their tunes. After finishing a song, he leaned over to Jaffe “and said, ‘That’s the first time I’ve played with a group of guys like that,’” Jaffe recalls. Not a shabby gig—especially with Jaffe’s homemade red beans and rice waiting as reward.

James Frain Wants Tips from Robert Pattinson?!

Frain James Frain Wants Tips from Robert Pattinson?!

TrueBlood’s James Frain co-starred with Robert Pattinson in Water for Elephants…and is now wishing that they could have exchanged vampire tips! The British star regrets not talking to Rob about the fact that both of them play vampires and could have discussed their characters.

I did have scenes with Robert in Water for Elephants but I’m sorry to say we didn’t swap vampire stories. I wish we had, people can’t believe there’s going to be a scene in the movie with a Twilight vampire talking to a True Blood vampire and that we didn’t spend our time chatting about that…I wish I’d got vampire tips from him, I wish I’d gone, ‘Oi, Bob mate, any tips?’

Forks, Washington prepares for the end of ‘Twilight’ tourism

Forks Forks, Washington prepares for the end of Twilight tourism

It’s been a running storyline here, there, and everywhere: Twilight fans have boosted tourism numbers for the towns of Forks and La Push ever since the books were released and especially since the film series began.

The last two years, particularly, seemed to mark an all-time high point for tourism in these areas. For instance, in 2009, the number of tourists which came to the town in July alone exceeded all of 2008’s tourist numbers. More on that here. Also, the town got a bit of a facelift to recognize its Twilight ties in 2009. Read here for more on that.

Now, though, the town of Forks is bracing itself for the end of Twilight tourism.

According to Peninsula Daily News, the Forks Chamber of Commerce met this week to discuss the status of their finances, and the subject of Twilight’s end became a big issue.

“This year when we were budgeting, we dropped the numbers back to 2008 numbers for sales tax” . . . “All we can do is monitor it and be aware that it won’t last forever” . . . “We all know Twilight won’t last forever” . . . “We have been lucky because Twilight, in many ways, has floated us through what has been a very difficult time for many cities.”

Already, Twilight tourism numbers are in decline for Forks.

In November, the center had 1,749 people, compared with 2,935 in November 2009. December dropped from 2,540 in 2009 to 1,825 in 2010. But overall, the visitor count rose to 73,000 in 2010 versus 69,975 in 2009.

If, like many fans have said, a trip to Forks is a “once in a lifetime” opportunity for Twilight fans, perhaps many of them have already taken their one.

RobertPattinson2 1 225x300 Twilight Saga: Eclipses Robert Pattinson makes GQ style list

Twilight Saga: Eclipse actor Robert Pattinson was named the fourth best-dressed male celebrity while eight-year-old Romeo Beckham trailed behind at number 26.

Nevertheless, the tiny man made the top 30 fighting off competition from the likes of Prince William and Jude Law.

We still can’t get over the fact that last year’s winner R-Pattz has slipped down three places to leave Aaron Johnson with the title of most stylish man in showbiz.

TWILIGHT Saga star Robert Pattinson and David and Victoria’s son Romeo Beckham have made it onto the list of GQ magazine’s most stylish men of the year.
