So the lucky fans in France are going to be able to see New Moon in theaters on November 18th as reported over at the Examiner:

A rep from Summit Entertainment has confirmed that The Twilight Saga: New Moon will be released in France on November 18th, 2009.

Speculation that the film would be released earlier in France than in the United States began a few days ago, and I waited to bring you the information until receiving confirmation as to its truth.

BuddyTV caught wind of the story saying:

A curious detail was revealed when the film’s trailer hit theaters in France recently. It doesn’t say it’ll open on that date, but instead, a full two days earlier–November 18.

The HD Room offered its interpretation as to why the release would be scattered like this, saying:

A quick glance at a calendar shows November 20 is a Friday, the natural choice for a new theatrical bow. That would make the 18th a Wednesday and introduce an interesting theory.

A few months before Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was set to debut on Friday, June 26, Paramount moved up the release date by two days to take advantage of the huge momentum building into the release and two additional days at the box office for the extended opening weekend. Not long after Paramount made that move, Warner Bros. Pictures did the same with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by moving it from July 17 to 15.

As the HD Room explains, there are advantages in the box office statistical world to having an extended opening weekend, and, since we want The Twilight Saga: New Moon to be the biggest film of the year, it is good for us too!

In Europe (well I’m not sure if this means every single European country, but certainly France and Belgium), new movies are always released on a Wednesday. And as far as i know, it’s not only France who will get to see New Moon, but also Belgium. On the site of the Kinepolis (http://www.kinepolis.com/be-nl/index.cfm?PageID=345&coufid=39262) is also November 18th listed

Well here in New Zealand, movies are released on a Thursday, and considering we are somewhere between 10 and 12 hours ahead of France, its possible WE might get to see it first, esp if we have midnight screenings. Is it November yet?
