Kellan Lutz has not read any of the erotic fan-fiction written about him and his fellow New Moon castmates, but he’s delighted to know it exists: “There’s so much depression [right now], it’s kind of cool to be a part of something people use as an escape. In a way, that’s what Stephenie did – she had a dream and just elaborated on it, and it’s really encouraging that people are doing the same, and making it this journey.”

His co-star Ashley Greene, whose character Alice plays a pivotal role in the new film, agrees: “That’s why people love it so much – you can take it and make what you want from it. That’s why people are going, ‘It’s 8 to 80.’ Before, it was very much a teenage girl demographic, and now it’s women of any age, and guys are starting to join in too, and it’s because there’s that element of fantasy. Literally, if you’re 8 years old you look at it one way and if you’re 80 you look at it another… People are making connections over this film and over this book, you know, there’s mothers and daughters and grandmas who can all sit and talk about this story, and all fantasize about it, and I think it’s a really cool thing – it’s rare.”

As for that erotic fan-fiction, Lutz might give it a look: “I would love to read that! That’s right up my alley.”
