Make Remember Me a HIT!

Here is an opinion piece from E! listing their reasoning as to whether Remember Me ultimately will be a “Hit” or a “Miss”. I want your opinion on the opinion. Also, have you seen Remember Me yet?

Remember Me will hit because…

1. It can’t miss.

Nobody expects the film, a straight-ahead romantic drama trying to make a go of it in a genre dominated by Nicholas Sparks-spawned titles, to topple Alice in Wonderland, or even challenge Matt Damon’s Green Zone for distant second at the weekend box office.

Given its lean budget—only $16 million—Remember Me doesn’t have to do a lot to get fat: A debut in the neighborhood of $10 million would do it. Heck, even Leap Year, which nobody liked, and which didn’t feature an abbreviatable star, opened with about that much.

2. Team Pattinson is on board.

Guess who’s made the Twilight franchise a megafranchise? Young women, followed by formerly young women. Guess who’s most into Remember Me? Young women, followed by formerly young women.

3. It’s all about the all-new Eclipse trailer.

Sure you could watch it—and did—on your phone this morning, but Pattinson’s hair and Taylor Lautner’s abs look so much bigger on the big screen. Isn’t that worth the price of admission alone?

Maybe. Or, then again, maybe not. Which brings us to the second part of our countdown:

Remember Me will bomb because…

4. One compound word: Bandslam.

Despite great reviews, a franchise-familiar face (High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens) and the supposed lure of the all-new New Moon trailer, this 2009 summer flick failed to open in the top 10. If it’s true Pattinson’s a far bigger name than Hudgens, then it’s also true Bandslam’s Rotten Tomatoes score was far higher than Remember Me’s (at least as of late Thursday).

5. One stalled breakout vehicle: Me and Orson Welles.

Zac Efron might have graduated from HSM once and for all in this Richard Linklater drama, but he couldn’t put bottoms in seats. The $25 million movie barely made $1 million domestically.

On the plus side for Pattinson, Efron did break out, even if his movie didn’t. And if a Wildcat can do it, then surely so can a vampire…er, right?

Just saw it and it is amazing. Rob did a fine job and the film was very respectful.

I thought the acting was very good, Rob was believable in the role. The story was ok, but the ending was a cheap shot. JMHO, sorry.

I thought they handled the ending nicely. They could have really cheapened it but chose not to.

This movie shows the scope of Rob’s acting ability. I enjoyed the movie but it was a little slow in spots. Ending was a complete surprise. I’m in my 50’s and there were about forty people in the first showing. There were three girls who appeared to be in late teens early twenties and I was next to the youngest one in there. Whoever said it’s teenage girls boosting Rob’s career must have not paid attention in the theater.

Ok – maybe I will go with the points raised in the “it will be a hit because” category, but WTF do Vanessa Hudgens or Zac Efron have to do with why these twits think Remember Me will be a miss? I am going to see it today (not because of the “Remember Me” Saturday campaign) but because I support Robert Pattinson in all he does. It may not be a blockbuster but I for one already know it will be memorable

I just seen the film, I am 47 years old. Love the twiligh sage but I must say this movie is excellent. Rob Pattison did a wonderful job in his role. He is a very talented actor and has a very bright future. There is a life learning lesson in this movie. The twist was done wonderfully, very tastful and I never seen it coming. His film sister did a fantastic job also along with Pierce and his co – star that played Alley. I highly recommend this movie and going again tonight.

Loved the movie. Loved Rob. The story was compelling and the acting was outstanding. I am 53 and am a fan of the Twilight books/movies. I am also now a big fan of Rob P.

I saw it on Friday for the Eclipse trailer. I saw it on Saturday to support Remember Me Saturday. I loved the romance and the story with the little sister. But the first time, the ending … my heart literally stopped beating, then I stopped breathing. I know I stopped breathing because I was gasping for air when I began crying. The second time, I knew what was coming; I mentally prepared myself for the heartbreak. But it wasn’t enough. Knowing the ending made parts of the movie that much more bittersweet and I cried periodically throughout, and almost couldn’t stop at the end. Don’t misunderstand … I love a movie that makes me cry. There are none better. But this one went way above and beyond anything I’ve ever seen before, and touched me personally in such a way that I will never, ever forget it, and that has absolutely nothing to do with the title. I highly recommend this film, but take a few napkins or tissues in with you (I needed six).

Saw the review on At The Movies and was sickened. The one guy said Rob couldn’t act and cited the scene in the boardroom where he goes off on his dad. To be honest, I thought Rob sounded very much like my 21 yr old son when he goes ballistic. These guys are morons!
