jeffbuckley Robert Pattinson Being Considered To Play Jeff Buckley?

It seems like Rob is being considered for every male lead right now according to different magazines and gossip sites.  One of the latest is that he is being looked at to play the late musician Jeff Buckley (pictured above) in the biopic that is said to be titled Mystery White Boy.  Twilight Examiner Amanda Bell has written about the latest rumblings in Rob’s career

This seems to be a running gag, lately. It seems that every new male lead that might be suitable for Robert Pattinson makes headlines with (and, to be honest, this column is no exception mind you) “Robert Pattinson as [insert title character here].” For instance, we’ve discussed whether Rob could play Houdini, Frank Sinatra, Joe Gallo, and even a character in Battleship.

Now, says Exclaim News, there may be another role entering the picture. Say they,

As Jeff Buckley fanatics likely already know, a biopic on the late singer-songwriter has been brewing for years. Several attempts have been made — one even by Brad Pitt — but so far Buckley’s mother Mary Guibert has put the kibosh on bringing the Buckley tale to the big screen. (To read a detailed history on the failed biopic check out The Playlist’s post about it here.) However, via a report from the Australian press, it appears the film is back on track and could be out as early as 2010.

According to the report, Orian Williams, who produced the biopic Control, about Joy Division’s Ian Curtis, is onboard for the Buckley film, titled Mystery White Boy, as is screenwriter Ryan Jaffe (The Rocker). The real juice here is that the list of possible actors that may play Buckley, which includes names like Jared Leto, James Franco, Robert Pattinson and James Marsden.

“Whoever gets the part will need a lot of self-discipline because they won’t be able to fake it,” Guibert said in interview. “It’s going to take a phenomenal set of skills.”

Guibert also added that she has finally come to terms with the idea of there actually being a biopic done on her late son, saying, “I have finally relented against my deep conviction that films about people should never be made until those people are long dead.”

And while all indications now seem to show that the biopic is back on course, the script is apparently nowhere near complete, and the film is still in the very early stages, making that possible 2010 release look pretty tentative.

If this is true (which I seriously hope that it is) and this movie is being made, then I believe that Rob and the other actors would all do very well. I have often thought that Rob’s music reminds me of some of Jeff Buckley’s work.

What do you think?

I’m going to be a bit of a nerd and leave you with a few lyrics from the Jeff Buckley song that was the first I had ever heard thanks to a friend in college who decided one day to change my life.

This is our last embrace
Must I dream and always see your face
Why can’t we overcome this wall
Well, maybe it’s just because i didn’t know you at all

Kiss me, please kiss me
But kiss me out of desire, babe, and not consolation
You know it makes me so angry ’cause i know that in time
I’ll only make you cry, this is our last goodbye

He has said himself that his style is modeled after Van Morrison and Jeff Buckley. He has the look, the acting chops AND the vocal talent. They’d be FOOLS not to cast him in this! I just hope he isn’t too busy :)

I would love to see Rob in another movie of course with new roles popping up people also have to keep in mind that he is still set to shoot Eclipse later this year and will probably be shooting Breaking Dawn next year. As long as other movies dont conflict with his role as Edward Im all for it lol.
