I hesitated to post this story in the news but in light of our new poll I guess I’ll go ahead. Take a look at the last paragraph in this Marie Claire article (June Issue) to see just what Bill aka Stephen Moyer said about our beloved Edward Cullen:

Remember all of you that all Twilight saga is just a copy of the original book of this series, True Blood, Meyer just make some little changes about it. Like the human girl mind reader, uncaptable to read her vampire lover’s mind, the mind-reader is the vampire and a lot more things. That book is a lot way better than Twilight saga. I love both but sometimes you get so obsessed with something. Moyer is right! He did not talk about Rob, he was talking about Edward Cullen, and hell yeah, Bill is a lot better and top vampire that EC. Remember, EC is more romantic and kinda obsessive. Just chill out.

I agree with Amber there is no humor at all. Humor is supposed to be funny and this was just some immature little remark that should have never been said. If he could actually talk like a big boy and make intellectual comments then maybe people would not find this guy’s remarks as rude and disrespectful. It doesnt matter if he was talking about Edward or Rob. It was unnecessary and the funny thing is he is supposed to be the older one so he should be mature enough to speak like he has some sense. I love this comment from Mr. Moyer so much. Perhaps True Blood sits well with an older age range. I can not take the Twilight series seriously, and much rather prefer True Blood in every capacity.

Stephen Moyer is great. I really doubt he meant anything hurtful towards Twilight. It was meant to be a light-hearted comment.

I am positive that this quote was taken wrong. The problem with written interviews is that you can’t put the words into context. From all the interviews I have seen Stephen do he seems like a really down to earth and overall nice guy, I am sure this was said either sarcastically or in another context. It could also be that the question was answered as “Bill” would answer it-not as Stephen would answer it. From other articles and interviews it seems that Stephen has a great sense of humor so it may have been a joke and sine Robert has never said anything about it(and I am sure someone has brought it up) then he probably realizes the joke

Hmm. True Blood, a complex show that includes socially relevent allegories and delves into Greek and Hindu mythology, or Twilight, a series based on a dream by a woman who apparently couldn’t be bothered to do any research? And…a vampire with an actually half-rounded character who respects his girlfriend’s decisions as an adult, and whose relationship has actual depth, or a sparkly, flatly perfect obnoxious teenager who thinks his girlfriend is going to break and whose relationship problems resemble those of my 10 year old sister?

Also…Robert Pattinson looks as though he’s on heroin and can’t do an American accent to save his life. Stephen Moyer, also from Britain, though I bet you couldn’t tell given how well he does HIS accent, manages to play a vampire without looking like a junkie or doing stupid things to his hair.
Oh, and unlike Edward, Bill isn’t a creepy stalker.

Just watched twilight and have to agree with Stephen. Also the chemistry between Sookie and bill is sooo hot. Bill is exactly what a vampire should be like, violent, mysterious and sexy. Not a nice boy who never shows his fangs and is about as violent as a puppy dog.also vampires should not sparkle in the sun, they should burst into flames, otherwise they would go out in the day and not party all night, as kiefer would say.

but we dont watch/read twilight to learn about vampires, the new stuff gives it an edge, plus i agree with the 1st/2nd comments

The only reason it is sooooo popular is because dumb-ass brain dead teeny-boppers picked it up. i am guessing, however, that most of the people defending that sack of shit, Pattinson, are in fact teeny-boppers who find Stephenie Meyers more interesting and intellectual than George Orwell, or James Joyce… Anne Rice, for that matter.

Well, I believe Bill Compton is a much powerful vampire cause he is an older man (in terms of age shown), so he obviously looks much more strong and decided and calm but also violent.
But Edward is a particular vampire. He is stuck in a specif age and reacts with a much more pondered way.

There is no comparison. But since I like “True Blood” very much and I also think Moyer is a good actor, I have to say I think he was being ironic.

Vampires from Twilight are the gay little pre-teen version of the vampire. Vampires from True Blood are VAMPIRES. They do not SHINE.
And I’m surprised that most people haven’t seen that Stephanie Meyer seems to have borrowed some Sookie Stackhouse novel ideas. True Blood will always be better and Eric Northman will always trump all the little shiney twilight vampires and Bill’s ass.
