Summit Responds to Rachelle Lefevre’s Statement

Here is the statement Summit just issued in response to Rachelle’s earlier interview with Access Hollywood about her replacement:

We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.

* Ms. Lefevre’s representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August.

*If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

*It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.

*Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.

*Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.

The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

What do you think about their statement?

HA!!! IT’S BS…Just saving their asses once again… :]

Sorry

Wow that is some statement this is getting interesting. I dont like to dismiss either side so quickly. I like to look at all the information before deciding which is which. I think Summit might be just saving their butts but at the same time there are some questions here that need to be answered as well. Why would an actor book another film when she knows the timeframe for her huge movie role? If she really wanted to make sure it was alright why didnt Summit know earlier about the movie decision? If any of this is true then this will bring up some questions. Like I said before they are on a tight schedule and while I love Rachelle that was also known publicly since they decided to do New Moon. I am sure she didnt expect to be let go because of her decision but this is going to be a lot of back and forth no matter what. Both sides seem to feel strongly about their decision so only time will tell.

Wait I just remembered something as well. Studios have to book locations and only have a certain timeslot to shoot in that location before they have to move on. What if they booked a location in which Victoria is needed but Rachelle couldnt do it because she was filiming her other film in those ten days? They only stay at some locations for days not months. Maybe there is something to Summits claim. I dont think Rachelle realized they would just replace but I also dont think she realized how important those first days were of shooting. Very interesting stuff indeed.

What a crappy answer, that’s bullying… but I’m not really taking Rachelle’s side either, if she didn’t have taken the other role none of this would have happened. And we’ll never know the whole truth anyway, Rachelle will never admit if she was difficul and got fired because of that nor will Summit ever say ‘we wanted her out’. We should just not take anyones side, it’s pointless…petentions are pointless.

by sarita in July 29 - 9:51 pm

Also, how did they manage to recast the part so quickly and announce it unless there was something in the works already??

by Bubbz in July 29 - 10:47 pm

sounds like attempted trash talk to me, out of a 2 odd hour film her scene/s would be as long as a fight and maybe other quick scenes at the most

by Bubbz in July 29 - 10:49 pm

oh and add the fact that they did fill the vacancy rather quickly

by BringBackRachelle in July 30 - 4:26 am

They’re making it sound like her fault!! When I read her side of the story Rachelle said Barney’s Version only filmed for 10 days!! It’s like, 2 weeks!! Summit should bring her back, because she’s just as good as Bryce Dallas Howard!!!

by Amy in July 30 - 6:31 am

I do not know what happen, but it is funny howe her role was replaced pretty quick. Unless this was an alternate from your first casting for the roles.

by Tatiana in July 30 - 8:57 am

The comments made by Rachelle in this post are just the sense I was looking for in every fan answer.
I sign down her words because I think there are too much judgement from the fans side and we don’t know all the answers for all the questions yet.

The booking locations thing seems very reasonable because it is very true. Its seems like both sides think they’re right so it will really be difficult to find anyone regreting for the attitude.

by Margaret in July 30 - 9:27 am

Sounds like to me, if everthing is accurate concerning the movie dates and rehearsal dates. That Rachelle just wanted to do both movies at the same time 10 tens over or whatever she states and didn’t think she’d get fired from Summit. Stupid move, if she loved being Victoria so bad why was she taking jobs that collided with the other. I don’t believe Summit was completely wrong. How many times have anyone heard of a bossman giving you time off to go do your second job. Well, unless your best buds or your to much of an asset to loss. I think she was just shocked because she wasn’t as big as she thought. If your hand chosen to be apart of anything important. The people that pick you want commitment.

by Free 2 B Me in July 30 - 9:38 am

Oh, grow up! Don’t started thinking that any of these actors can’t be replaced. They are replaceble. There are movies where the character was replaced and I didn’t remember the last one face. Unless it’s the lead characters who cares…She dies anyway! Gosh!

by ttessa782 in July 30 - 10:43 am

I’m just really disappointed. It would have been so great to have the same cast throughout the saga. No offence to Bryce Dallas Howard, but I’m really wondering if she can pull this off. Victoria is such a strong, sexual creature. I have never seen anything that would lead me to believe that BDH has that in her.

by Rachelle in July 30 - 2:16 pm

Tatiana and Margaret I am glad you are willing to see reason. I dont think there is a win in this situation for the fans. We want continuity. We want Rachelle back and we want this all to be over but there were some great points made from both sides. Summit should have talked to Rachelle about it BUT it sounds like they did and somewhere in the communication something was loss. I do know that they have made it very clear and publicly at that they wanted to shoot the movies as quickly as possible. They said it would be a tight schedule and us Twilighters know that because ppl were groaning about how hurried the movies would be….but now we are telling them to hurry so we can see them lol.
Margaret had a GREAT point. In any other job when would you be allowed to commit to two projects knowing one is a huge priority and plus why would you do it? Was Barney’s Version so important that she needed to be away from Eclipse production for two weeks because I hope it was. Tons of the cast have turned down offers and worked around the schedule why did she feel like she would be any different?
She is an actress and this isnt a new thing for her. She knows about rehearsals, get togethers, photo shoots, filming and makeup and wardrobe. What was her agent thinking when they even okayed the idea.
As far as how quickly they replaced her…That is a norm. An actor can be replaced within a day. You always have a backup plan or have something in mind in case something falls apart. All they had to do was think of a red head who they thought could act the part. Who in their right mind would turn down being in Eclipse? And there you have it…..BDH.
If the information is true, Summit really didnt have a choice if they felt like Rachelle couldnt perform her duties and just realized it weeks before they had to start production yes they would have to move fast. Why is everyone looking for a conspiracy theory here?
Neither side is going to admit they were at fault. Rachelle wont because it would make her look bad as a worker and make her seem incompetent. Summit wont because the fans would be all over them….even more than they already are. There isnt much that can be done now. And like I keep saying….Rachelle not being Victoria and not being the one to die in the movie isnt going to affect if I watch it. I want to see the Cullens, Bella and see how they perform Eclipse. One actress who made a decision and it was her decision to book two movies at the same time isnt going to affect that.

Thanks for everyone’s comments on this article. Very great discussion going on.

by AJ in August 03 - 8:32 pm

Has anyone remembered the Seventeen article where Jackson said Bryce Dallas Howard was his celebrity crush…more drama

by Rachel in September 01 - 1:58 pm

Replacing Rachelle is like replacing Rob or Kristen. Rachelle is just soooo important to Eclipse. They will regret the decision. I have heard many people say they won’t even go see Eclipse now. I agree. Way to go Summit! Ruined a great film! They could have saved all this from happening by shooting her parts at a different time. Come on!!! Aren’t movies suppose to be all about the fans when it comes to this kind of thing! Without the fans it will go no where!!! I would be interested to hear about what Stephenie Meyer thinks about this! And to Bryce.. looks like we got a diva on our hands now. She doesn’t deserve the role because she underestimated it.

by victor in April 09 - 9:51 am

It really sucks that they could not work this out!!! This was a role of a lifetime for rachelle and she blew it over an insignificant indie movie that will never hit the theaters. Recall Sony had problems with Spiderman 4 they decided to dump everyone and start fresh Summit can do the same:((
