MTV Hollywood Crush has an article where they decided to give some of the ‘Twilight’ characters their own theme songs and why they chose those songs.

Somehow, the ball has been dropped with “Twilight”. Sure, the soundtrack to the first film was good, and Death Cab for Cutie might correct the situation. But how is it that none of these iconic characters has a song yet?

With the recent announcement that Rob, Kristen and Taylor will be attending the upcoming VMAs to unveil an exclusive “New Moon” trailer to the fans, we think it’s about time to correct this. MTV and “Twilight” have formed a match made in heaven over the past many months, and we have tens of thousands of music videos ripe for the plucking. And so, we humbly submit the following classic songs we’d like to hear when we see these characters on camera again in November’s “New Moon”:

Edward Cullen:“I’m Too Sexy” by Right Said Fred
Because the guy is sexy — and whether he’ll admit or not, he knows it. C’mon, wouldn’t you like to watch RPattz do his little turn on the catwalk?

Carlisle Cullen:“Smooth Criminal” by Michael Jackson
The patriarch of the Cullen clan has more charisma than Clooney, talks sweeter than honey, and — as noble as his bitings have been — making someone a member of the living dead has to be against some kind of law. We considered selecting Alien Ant Farm’s cover version, but something tells us the 369-year-old vampire prefers to kick it real old school.

Bella Swan: “Sugar, We’re Going Down” by Fall Out Boy”
One of the many reasons we love Bella is because she’s always falling down … or falling in love. We can imagine Bella telling Edward she’s “going down” the next time she hits a patch of black ice on her walkway. And as depressed as she gets in “New Moon,” Kristen needs a fun song like this to cheer her up a bit.

You can read the rest here.

What do you think of the songs they chose?

The only one I like is Rosalie’s “Beautiful” by Christina A. The others really dont fit the personality of the character. Yes Edward is sexy but that isnt what he is all about. They should have theme songs that represent them and not just their appearance. I like Rosalie’s because it kind of reminds me of her past and how she was turned as well as her appearance of being so beautiful. The song is more about strength and overcoming something and I think Rosalie definitely had to do that. They need to go back to the drawing boards on the other songs though.

Well, as usual I have an opinion! The first time I saw the scene in the New Moon trailer where Edwards tells Bella he’s leaving and she will never see him again — and she curls up in to a fetal position on the floor of the woods — you know the one I mean! Anyway that moment in the movie is SCREAMING for Evanesences’s “My Immortal”! Listen to the words to the song. It is so right! If I had the ability to do it (I don’t), I would do a fan made video to “My Imortal” and post it here or on YouTube ….somewhere! It would be soooo awesome! (Hint! Hint!) That song should be the “Edward and Bella” theme for New Moon!!!! What do you think?

Oh, yeah, how much do you want to bet that if/when Rob reads/hears about this song (I’m Too Sexy) being associated with him he’ll just cringe? Remember, this is the actor who was concerned when audtioning for Twilight about the Stephenie Meyer description about the most beautiful man Bella had ever seen ….. and how he would pull that off.

There are a couple of songs I can think of for Bella’s depression and one is more of a lighter song just for New Moon in general. Have you ever heard the Paramore song “When it Rains” listen to the words and it reminds me of how Bella would feel. Its about a guy breaking up with a girl and how she feels about it plus how she wants an explanation. One of the lines is “So why cant you stay just long enough to explain.” She doesnt care even if she can only see him one more time, she just wants to see him again.
The other song makes me want to cry every time I hear it so I dont listen to it very often lol. Its called “Almost Lover” by A Fine Frenzy. Its about another break up and how crushed the girl is. She cant get the guy off her mind and the part that sticks out in my mind goes…
I cannot go to the ocean
I cannot drive the streets at night
I cannot wake up in the morning
Without you on my mind
So you’re gone and I’m haunted
And I bet you are just fine
Did I make it that easy
To walk right in and out of my life?

Now if that isnt how Bella feels I dont know what is. Its a pretty gut wrenching song but that is how Bella feels so I dont know which song I like better.

Hey Vicki that doesnt make you any different than me lol I watched it earlier today. Almost Lover is a total tear jerker. I think When it Rains fits for the whole movie instead of just that tragic scene whereas Almost Lover fits that scene on the forest floor.
