On The Red Carpet has posted an exclusive interview about how ‘Twilight’ has reached a fan base of all ages.

Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga was first marketed to young readers, but judging from the crowd at the first Twilight convention in Los Angeles, Calif., the popular vampire series has reached all demographics.

So what do the celebs of the film think about the age demographic of the movie? For some of the stars it was a bit of a surprise, while others saw it coming. Peter Facinelli (Dr. Carlisle Cullen) says that his sister, who is in her 40s, loves the books and reads them with her daughter.

“When we started shooting Twilight we knew that there was a big fan base, but we didn’t know it was this big. We were very conscious of making a good movie for those fans so we wouldn’t let them down. It spread like wildfire and by the time the movie came out the fan base exploded. My sister even loves the Twilight series and she reads them with my niece. I think that is cool that women of all ages can enjoy the story,” said Peter.

Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen) compared Twilight to Titanic and Romeo and Juliet, except with vampires, and he too gets why the movie is a worldwide phenomenon.

“Right when we started shooting we all started seeing the fans come to the sets. More and more came as we shot. We weren’t expecting it to be as big as it was. We are happy that it is. The fans are amazing. Stephanie is brilliant and she has captivated a story of forbidden love that touches every female demographic which then touches the male demographic. In a way it touches everyone,” said Kellan.
