Will the Eclipse Wolves Look More Realistic Under David Slade?

Will the wolves in Eclipse be more realistic under the direction of David Slade?  This is the question raised today be the folks at ClevverTV in reference to  Slade’s tweet from Dec. 11.  Quoting the video from ClevverTV:
.

Slade’s tweet said: “Wolf reviews today, looking better and better. The Eclipse story and the way we approached the film calls for a much more realistic approach.”

So we’re guessing that Slade is referring to toning down the computer graphics that a lot of people thought were overdone with the wolves in New Moon. The fight scenes are stepped up in Eclipse, so a more realistic point of view, as far as the wolves are concerned, completely makes sense.

Lots of stuff on the CG wolf pack of late. What are your thoughts on how they looked. Were they as good as you hope? As good as they could/should be?

The scenes I want to see most in eclipse are the leg hitch and the tent scene. Also, what follows the tent scene where Jacob manipulates Bella into kissing him before he goes off to fight. I think these scenes are very exciting in the book and are important to the fans…they should definately be included!! ;)

I thought the wolves in new moon were amazing. the wolves kind of grow on you as you see them on the screen. They have personality. People watching have already bonded with these wolves. If they look different in the next movie, there will be no bond. You can feel Jacob when you look at his wolf…if the wolf looks different…then how do you feel Jacob???

Oh Arlene, you are a woman after my own heart…the leg hitch better be there.

YES! The CGI wolves were overdone in New Moon. I always felt it would be a mistake to take the CGI too far because this story has such a natural earthy setting in the forested Pacific Northwest. It is not set in a fantasy world and these wolves come from a Native American tribe and American Indians celebrate nature and natural even when there is a touch of mystical. Slade should keep it real use drums and earthy rhythms in the music. They are not in Italy anymore so bring it home to the forest of the American Northwest!

CGI is still necessary even if it’s toned down. The wolves need to look more ferocious during the fight scenes instead of like big angry dogs (in New Moon). & it doesn’t really matter if they look dfferent in Eclipse than they did in NM b/c even throughout the last 3 books, Jacob’s wolf-form continued to grow until he was even taller/bigger than Sam.
