We can now confirm the rumor we reported yesterday that Australian, Xavier Samuel, will play Riley in Eclipse! It has been confirmed by Summit (according to the Twilight Lexicon) and Xavier has commented on it as well:

The 25-year-old Adelaide-born and Sydney-based actor’s career has so far focused on small and independent Australian films.

The vampire movies have already made hot properties of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the latter now comes with his own travelling pack of obsessive teen fans.

“I’m in a bit of a daze but it’s a wonderful bit of news,” Samuel exclusively told Confidential from Los Angeles last night.

Samuel has only recently hit Tinseltown after appearing in five small Australian films including Newcastle, where he played a Goth teenager among a group of surfers, September and the upcoming Road Train, where he stars as one of a group of teens terrorised by an out-of-control truck.

Xavier Samuel’ is a young Australian actor. He grew up in Adelaide and graduated from Flinders University Drama Centre in 2005. He played Hamlet in the graduate production. Since this time he has worked professionally in both theatre and film. He plays the central character in an Australian feature film ‘September’, directed by Peter Carstairs, which was released in 2007 and featured in the Toronto International Film Festival. His latest film Newcastle, directed by Dan Castle, had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2008.

I dont think its a good enough pic to be able to tell. A close up usually doesnt do justice to the person unless you are drop dead gorgous like Rob. I could see him as Riley though. I think the best way to go is with unknowns. Leave the A list celebs out of the picture and just focus on the content. I would like to see more pics of him though.

I want Tom Felton! Oh well. He’s sorta cute.
